# The One Who Was Before You

*John 1:15 — "John testified concerning him. He cried out, saying, 'This is the one I spoke about when I said, He who comes after me has surpassed me because he was before me.'"*

Beloved, John the Baptist was no small man. He shook a nation. Kings feared his voice. Crowds travelled days just to hear him speak. And yet, when Jesus appeared, John did not hesitate — he stepped aside with joy and said, *He is greater. He was before me.*

This is a word for someone carrying the burden of comparison today. Perhaps you feel overlooked. Someone younger has been promoted ahead of you. Someone newer seems to shine brighter. Your heart is quietly asking, *What about me?*

Look at John. His greatness was never diminished by Christ's arrival — it was *completed* by it. The moment he pointed to Jesus, he fulfilled everything he was created to do.

Your assignment is not to outshine others. Your assignment is to point to Jesus in every season — in your rising and in your stepping back, in your promotion and in your waiting.

Jesus was before John, and He is before every situation you are facing today. He existed before your problem was even formed.

Trust the One who was before all things. He has not forgotten you. He is not late.
